Heating Zones Explained

Heating Zones are the easy solution to Heating your whole House when you are only using a few rooms.

The biggest expense for UK households is certainly the rising cost of energy, and most of this is used during the colder months for keeping warm.

But do you need to heat the whole house if you are only using one or two rooms at any time?

Heating every room is an inefficient use of energy

This is exactly the same as running all the hot taps to fill the kettle, or switching on every light in the house while you watch TV. But the biggest problem that cannot be solved is turning off radiators in a gas pipe water filled system, will not reduce the amount of energy used by the 30 kW boiler to heat just one radiator. It is either on or off.

Luckily, Creative Radiators are not the same.

They have an inbuilt thermostatic programmable control on each electric radiator. That means that you can switch them on and off separately, or in relays, half an hour before you think you will want to use each room, and with each radiator using between 300w- 600w, this will make a massive difference to the total amount of energy you use.

Heat up the bedrooms just before bedtime and keep the sitting room cosy and warm while you watch TV. You are now using ‘Heating Zones’

The Right Heat, When You Need It – Not When You Don’t.

This means you will be more comfortable in each room, your use of energy will be reduced which means a lower energy bill – just from a simple method of dividing your home or business premises, into sensible zones that fulfil the needs of each specific family or employees.

A very simple method is to separate the heating from hot water, you may not need hot water all evening while you watch TV before bed, so this will give two very easy zones.

In a larger property where every room may not be in use at the same time, you can have several heating zones and several hot water zones.

Here’s an Example:

Friday Afternoon, 6pm: Mr. and Mrs. Smith decide to go out for the evening, leaving the house empty. One click of the remote control override function will allow the temperature of the house to be quickly reduced. In 2 hours, at the end of the override period, Mrs. Smith will come home to a lovely warm home.

Monday Morning, 7am

The Smith family wake up to a warm bathroom and kitchen, all ready to start the day. During the night the temperature was set to ‘background’ making sure that if temperatures dropped below freezing, it would keep a constant minimum temperature, and risen to the chosen temperature just before the family get up.

Weekend Afternoons: With the wireless control function, you can settle down to watch the match or the big film, and control the temperature of every room from your armchair. No need to miss that great goal!

Heating Zoning Control.

Allows you to programme completely separate time and temperature control routines for not just the living and sleeping areas, but independently for every room in the home. Granny’s room can stay warmer, while the spare room can be switched off completely. This kind of independent zoning gives every occupant their own specific level of comfort and gives them total control of changing it, without needing to rely on one boiler being on or off at the time.

Don’t Move – Improve!

Today’s housing market is unpredictable and many families are choosing to make the most of their current property rather than take on a bigger mortgage. So if you are converting the garage, knocking out a wall, adding a granny flat, or converting the loft space; Livingstone Heating is the perfect solution. Each electric radiator operates completely independently, and is effectively a mini central heating system in its own right, wherever you choose to install it.

More and more home owners have found this to be the perfect solution to programme the heat needed according to the occupancy of the room, and not heating empty rooms when they are not in use.
